In The SnowI didn't know how I got there, but I remembered this place well. The grass was worn down under the towering maple that I laid beneath. The ground was hard and dry, a root pushing against the small of my back as I peered up through the dense canopy of green above, searching for the soft blue of the sky beyond. Time for you to head back for dinner," I knew this voice but I didn't see her face, my body on autopilot as a rose to my feet, forgetting about the blue beyond greens and browns. I had to go home from this place, and as I left the cool shade of the maple tree that seemed to stand alone in this familiar space the heat of the day became apparent to me. Summer was it? It didn't matter now. All I had to do was walk home, wherever that was from here.
